Heron Import Vector boundary - what's the input?

Hello @Brian_Washburn ,
I’ve been using the Heron plug-in a lot recently (thank you for developing this! It’s been a great help) and there is one thing, I couldn’t find an answer yet: The Import Vector component has an optional Boundary input node, but I don’t really know, what I’m supposed to plug in there. I naively tried variations of rectangles and boxes, but that doesn’t seem to be correct. Where do I get the boundary from?
(Unticking the “clip to boundary” allows me to import an shp-file decently, but I’d like to understand, what boundary does.)

Thanks,
Carina

Hi Carina -

When you create a rectangle that is somewhere inside that imported geometry and use that rectangle as boundary input, the result should get clipped to only what’s inside that rectangle. If that’s not what you are seeing, you might want to post the shp file. (…or wait for a qualified answer from Brian :see_no_evil:).

Hi @Carina ,
Wim is correct. You should be able to plug in any planar closed curve to the boundary input in order to clip the data to only those features that intersect or are inside the boundary curve.

Hi,
sorry for the delay and thank you both for answering @Brian_Washburn @wim ! I assume there was some mistake with my applied curve, but I got it working now.
