1_ I’m not sure if the command or function I want to explain exists, but in CAD, if you press R and select an object, then press R again, you can quickly rotate it to the desired angle or direction. I think this basic function is necessary
2_I wish texture modification was more flexible. Sometimes we need to complete a project within a short period of time due to clients, and for the final product, we often use SketchUP, which allows for free texture modification
3_I wish there was a website where users can share their modeling like SketchUP 3D Warehouse. Such a space allows users to exchange information and skills, and it is useful sometimes when downloading results needed for work
Aside from using the gumball which I personally think is way more versatile than any mode of transformation in ACAD, you can also just set up an alias in your settings to map the rotate command to just be ‘R’.
I agree that the texture mapping controls in Rhino leave a lot to be desired, especially for things like multi-texture custom UV mapping, but I’m not sure what you mean by “texture modification” though? If you’re looking for a slightly more intuitive way to modify the UV mapping of an object you could use the UVEditor command. If you want to be able to edit the actual contents of a texture, you’ll have to have Photoshop or something open on the side.
It would be nice to have a fully featured NURBS model sharing site, but for assets sites like Sketchup 3D Warehouse, GrabCad, ShapeDiver and the like still exist inside and outside of the Rhino community. I’d look into other places you can grab assets from and start building your own personal library.
