Help with modeling, trying to learn a case from SBP

Hello guys, I’m new to GH and this forum, and I am learning a case from SBP as following figure.

Sbp use a very coarse mesh(fig.a red solid wireframe) to define the geometry and by modify the control point to optimise the structure behavior.
I wanna ask:

  1. how to model this geometry with just few control points? I tried to use SUBD in rhino7 and it works, but failed to model it in GH.
  2. How to optimise the structure behavior? for example, minimal bending moment? I know there is a mode Karamba3D will help, and any other idea?
    Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
