Hi,
I’m trying to achieve a smooth finish using the drape tool but with all of my experiments I’m getting jagged, bumpy finish along the edges.
Can anyone help with this please? I’m not sure what I am doing incorrectly in the settings.

Yeah… drape does that. You can try the _Smooth command but you’re going to loose resolution.
The objects in the first image look simple enough to model and then boolean union.
In the second image it looks like you want to preserve the organic shape. You could try trimming the shape at the edge and then extruding the edge down to get clean looking sides.
