Help with Cyclops Sunlight Obstruction Analysis

Hi again! I Followed the workshop yesterday and i’ve tried to recreate the script but is not working, i checked everywhere and is not recognising any geometry as obstruction…do you know what’s the problem? in the other hand i was wondering if with the sunlight obstruction analysis i can get the reverse result (analysis points on my geometry, context as obstruction) because in my case is not working as well…the main problem i think that the program is not recognising some geometries as obstruction. Can you help me please? I love this plug-in by the way!!

Hi @Davide_Gallié , Thank you for joining the workshop yesterday and following along.

You’re very close - I’ve highlighted a few small changes:

  • Flatten objects as they enter the Instruction component

  • Renamed the Geometry Group

  • Added a quick visualization pipeline

  • Connected the SunRig

Fixed files attached!

For those interested, here is recording of the workshops Davide is referring to: ATN Cyclops x Foster + Partners Workshop

Perfect!! Thank you so much! Then, if i want to do the opposite? I mean i need to find the best design shape in a designated site considering the sunlight obstruction of the other buildings and using the boxes that i’ve done…I was thinking that maybe is better to do that using the sunlight hours analysis(?), but i don’t know, do u have any suggestion?

Thank you for your time and your answers!

best regards

This depends on your brief. Sunlight Obstruction analysis is essentially a sunlight-hours analysis, but instead of reporting total sunlight hours, it reports the number of hours for which, in your case, each voxel of the obstruction geometry blocks sunlight.

A standard sunlight-hours analysis can also be run in parallel, on adjacent facades, or voxels.

Ok perfect, but if i set, as analysis points, the surface of my building, as target my meshed building and , as obstruction, the context, it gives weird results…am i setting something wrong? It happens as well if i do that with sunlight hours analysis
