Is there any official documentation for grasshopper (one that explains each component function )?

I believe each component has Help details built into it:
I changed the category of your message to Grasshopper.
Each component has the ability for a custom help file build into it, but only a tiny minority of components actually override the default content which is just a collection of the tooltip texts.
There is no official documentation for Grasshopper 1.0, although there are plenty of good tutorials and books out there, some of them by McNeel employees.
As a person who not long ago started with Grasshopper, I would suggest.

Reading the documentation will just get you to one point, and will waste the time you could spend experimenting. Learning by doing is the knowledge that sticks.
Of course If everything else fails RTFM. Here by M I mean search the forums, 95% someone has already asked the same question.
If not ask the question yourself.
