Hatch Properties Slow Down Rhino Considerably

Hi All,

After I fill a curve with a hatch, if I click on its properties afterward it slows down Rhino quite a bit. It takes a long time with standard hatches and even longer for imported ones. The degree to which it bogs down Rhino can’t be normal

As far as I can remember this has been a problem, affecting different releases and machines. I know Rhino is not a purpose-built drafting program but hopefully there’s a solution I’m not aware of. Someone asked a similar question a while back but there was no response. Relevant system information is below.

Thanks in advance.

Hello - is this true in any display mode? In a new file with just a curve and a hatch?

-Pascal

Hi @pascal, yeah it’s true in all display modes. The very heavy lag time I originally mentioned was due to crappy hatches, but even with standard hatches I have to remember to click back over to the layers panel so Rhino doesn’t bog down every time a hatch is selected. Hopefully that makes sense.

JRT

Can you please post an example file that demonstrates this slow down?
Thanks

Sure thing, the video below shows the behavior I was talking about, although it’s not as bad compared to when it gets frustratingly slow. The way it slows down when loading hatches is the same though, just to a lesser degree.

Thanks,
JRT

I believe you that this is happening.
I guess I wasn’t clear.
I want one of your 3dm files that shows this problem to see if I can reproduce it here on my computers.

Thanks

Hi - apart from what John said,

Please post the complete output of the SystemInfo command.
-wim

@John_Brock, ahhh, makes sense. I’m headed out the door but I’ll send a file as soon as I’m back in front of my computer

@wim, Below is the system info in its entirety. The only thing I removed last time was the “Machine name:” I didn’t think that was relevant.

@wim, oops, just saw the top 3 lines of Systeminfo didn’t get included in my last post, apologies. Should all be there now.
