Hatch generated from curves exported from Rhino doesn't report area

I’m trying to generate a hatch in AutoCAD that will be used to calculate areas. To do that I’m drawing its curves in Rhino. Unfortunately, generated hatches don’t properly report areas. Tracing them over in AutoCAD with polyline command and generating a new hatch works (new hatch reports areas).

Rhino: Rhino8-Original-Curves.3dm (42.0 KB)

AutoCAD (exported from rhino):AutoCAD-Exported-From-Rhino.dwg (44.3 KB)

AutoCAD (traced):
AutoCAD-Traced.dwg (23.8 KB)

Rhino:

AutoCAD:

after tracing over with the polyline command area is correctly reported:

Hi Daniel - the originals are very far from the World origin

620742390.513 millimeters

My guess is that is the root of the problem - the dwg exported from Rhino opens but with no objects, here…

Thanks, you are right. The AutoCAD-Exported-From-Rhino.dwg (44.3 KB) file when opened in Rhino comes up empty - also opening it in AutoCAD shows the objects correctly as shown on the above images.

Hmm, that’s unfortunate, because our team works with in geographic units. Copy pasting elements in-place would be nice, but I will see if the misbehaving hatches can be solved by exporting them from 0,0,0.

When exported from 0,0,0 the .dwg can be opened back in Rhino, however it doesn’t solve the problem of the hatches not reporting the “area” property - same behaviour:

Exported .dwg: AutoCAD-Exported-From-Rhino-000-Origin.dwg (64.4 KB)

Hi Daniel - is this any better or worse or different at all?

AutoCAD-Exported-From-Rhino-000-Origin_SimplifyCrv.dwg (74.4 KB)

Thanks, it seems to be the same (hatch area still is not reported):
