I’m trying to generate a hatch in AutoCAD that will be used to calculate areas. To do that I’m drawing its curves in Rhino. Unfortunately, generated hatches don’t properly report areas. Tracing them over in AutoCAD with polyline command and generating a new hatch works (new hatch reports areas).
Thanks, you are right. The AutoCAD-Exported-From-Rhino.dwg (44.3 KB) file when opened in Rhino comes up empty - also opening it in AutoCAD shows the objects correctly as shown on the above images.
Hmm, that’s unfortunate, because our team works with in geographic units. Copy pasting elements in-place would be nice, but I will see if the misbehaving hatches can be solved by exporting them from 0,0,0.
When exported from 0,0,0 the .dwg can be opened back in Rhino, however it doesn’t solve the problem of the hatches not reporting the “area” property - same behaviour:
Hi, i think this is still an issue wich causes a bit of a head ache when exhanging with people working on autocad… ThIs is a hatch exported from rhino, we need it to display area properties, but it does not in autocad.
It’s not entirely clear if that’s something that we can do anything about.
We have the issue on our list, though: RH-57373 Export Hatch Area to AutoCAD
-wim
Okay i understand, it’s a bit of an issue because i can’t collaborate with autocad users. I tried using a lisp that calculates hatch areas in autocad but still did not work with the hatch exported from rhino.
