Gumball measured distance from a point

Hi Group

is it possible to use the gumball to move an object point to a measured distance from another point?

the intention would be -

  • Relocate Gumble to a location
  • then move the part by a measured amount between another point in a certain direction…?

I understand I can use the from-to command or other forms of commands but it would be nice to have a simple command in with the gumball when using a mouse and the ctrl, shift and alt keys for quick stuff.

If you click the gumball arrows you can specify a distance but I’m guessing you want the ability to move that distance in all directions?

Hi Ftzuk

yes i use the numeric input on the gumball arrows, I am trying to use the gumball as much as possible and want to keep stuff simple but do as much as possible, but the gumball needs a bit more development, which will hopefully happen…?

Arrow move by distance is good if you know the distance without measuring it first… so it would be good if you click the arrow and then were able to have other options for positioning from / with other stuff or even if you could use commands in the dimension box like “from” or “to” etc… and a dimension.

Also it would be good if you could put in some simple math in the small number box, like clicking the arrow and then entering 1345mm - 235mm as this might help save some thought/calculator use.

Also the angle command would be good if it showed the angle it was moving by when moving freely with the mouse

and if the gumball be used for aligning too i.e:
move the gumball to a point and anchor it as a pivot point then the arrow could be clicked and then typing “align” or similar then you click on a line the object would spin from its pivot point so that the arrow selected would align parallel to the goude one chosen.

Also it would be good if you could put in some simple math in the small number box, like clicking the arrow and then entering 1345mm - 235mm as this might help save some thought/calculator use.

It already does this. Moving 20+50 will move it 70 units.
