Grasshopper multi-save dialog window displays Unsaved - bug

Even though I save… the icon shows as Unsaved.
This can create some confusion on a dialog that is supposed to make things clear…

I have same issue here

Hi -
Could you describe the steps I need to take to be able to reproduce this issue?

In a quick test, clicking that disk icon shows that the file gets saved:

You have a gh file open. You work on it, you save for the last time and you close grasshoper.
Afterwords you close Rhino also, and this is where this dialog pops, just after closing Rhino.
And you noticed, that even though you saved the gh file and you haven’t done any changes to it, the dialog asks you if you want to save again.

Thanks.
That sounds like the normal way of working with Grasshopper files. I would guess this is something that is being done by several thousand users multiple times per day but is not something that we hear about being a problem. Can you think of anything that might be different on your system? Does it happen every single time with any Grasshopper file? Always with a specific Grasshopper file? Are you using any 3rd party plug-ins in Grasshopper? Are the files being saved to some server with or without some synchronization?

Hi @wim ,
The normal way is to show the gh files already saved with the Save icon grayed out. The ones unsaved with a regular icon.
Otherwise you might be wondering, have I made changes to those files and I don’t remember? Should I save or not?

There’s nothing different on my system.
It happens with all gh files.
No plugins.
Files are saved locally.

Hi Bogdan -

With the steps that you outlined, that is not the normal way.

When you save the Grasshopper file, close Grasshopper, close Rhino, there will be no dialog showing you anything.

Have you tried with some saved gh files and some unsaved gh files?
The saved ones showing as unsaved after closing Rhino.

I’ve had the same issue here, sequence seems to be that if I save a grasshopper file in increments, v-1, v-2, etc. then will appear to be unsaved after closing. Started perhaps last fall? Like most peculiarities I’ve simply learned to work around it. Apologize I do not have more specific information.

But that is not in fact what happens.

For years I have saved my Grasshopper document then closed Rhino, and no Grasshopper last-chance-to-save-unsaved-document window appears.

Now the last-chance Grasshopper window appears even when there are no unsaved Grasshopper documents.

This is an annoying regression.

This is still an issue on Rhino8 SR11.

Can we get a Youtrack for this?

Trying to reproduce this bug to bring some attention to it.

I cannot reproduce it with small grasshopper files, but it consistently occurs with my large > 35MB grasshopper definitions.

Anyone else finding similar behaviour in that it’s only occuring on large files?

I consistently have this happen on all grasshopper files, even small ones (50k or so)

Hi -
RH-84507 Grasshopper: Multi-save is confusing and causes loss of edits
→ This should be fixed in 8.15.

Thank you

Less that it is confusing and more that it pops up even when not needed. It did not used to do this, pretty sure this was introduced in 8.

I always save my grasshopper script(s), then save the rhino doc, then close. On rhino shutdown the grasshopper save window pops up despite no changes having been made to the GH script.
