Can we get your SystemInfo as well (type in the Rhino command line)? I wasn’t able to repeat. Thanks

Hi Paul, I was on a build a few days older but even with an update not seeing this.
Is this a particular file? Lets try a Reset (back up existing config beforehand if you’ve done a lot of customizations)
I went back to Rhino 7. Animate works fine.
The difference that I can see is there’s a default path in the animate window to the left of the “Browse…” button, for me it has “/Users/paul/Desktop/animate”. That’s not there in WIP8 and it will not let me type anything either.
Not sure what you mean by “Reset”. I have not customized anything in WIP8.
I have to select a directory before the path is populated.
Type Reset in the Rhino command line to clear your Rhino system settings, a bit of a long shot but will establish a fresh baseline we can trouble shoot with.
It’s when I select a directory with the “Browse…” button I get the crash.
I tried “reset” on the command line and that did not help.
Just in case, this is all on MAC OS?
Yes, I’m testing on Monterey though. Can you remove the USB Drive? Other than that these are a local drive paths correct?

Removing the drive and doing a reset do not help.
Yes, that’s the only drive path besides the main SSD in the Mac.
This is still a problem in the released version of rhino 8
Trying to use a slider to animate grasshopper.
Right click on any slider
Choose “Animate…”
Hit “Browse…”
CRASH EVERY TIME
Please note after right clicking the slider and picking “Animate…” the “Browse…” section had a default path in Rhino 7. In Rhino 8 there is no default path. Not sure if that means anything.
Hi Paul -
Thanks for sending in those crash reports.
We have this issue on the list as RH-77593 System.Exception: […]

Thanks
Hi Paul -
The fix for this issue should be in Rhino 8.2. If all goes well, 8.1 will be released on Tuesday next week, and a first release candidate for 8.2 will then also become available. I haven’t found anyone in-house that could reproduce this crash, though, and will have to rely on you to test this fix.
You can either wait until Tuesday afternoon for the public release to become available, or test the current in-house build. I would advice to unpack this to the desktop and not overwrite the stable 8.0 version that you are running now.

Thanks Wim
Paul
