Global Edge Continuity – Issue

Hi @Gijs

I’ve been using your fabulous GEC tool again recently after a while. It’s been really useful and quite easy to use. I’ve noticed that some edges are failing G0 with some really high deviation values! Like edge no.22 in the attached file reads as being over 4mm out!
Looking at the geometry the edges look pretty adjacent. This is also confirmed with the Analyze curve deviation tool – all edges are within the 0.001mm file tolerance.

Let me know your thoughts…

@sach I’ll have a look at the file tomorrow, but in general keep the G0 filter as low as possible.
Let me know if the info on this page makes it clear or not:

@Gijs
Very helpful article – thanks.
Noted about keeping the filters in check.

@sach In this case it was not the filter setting. The reason you get big deviations is because I currently don’t handle split edges very well.
The trimmed surface has a split edge, while the longer fillet has not.

For now you can solve this in two ways:

  • Split the edges of the fillet at the same points
  • Run MergeAllEdges on the surfaces

Excellent – thanks.
Will keep that in mind.
Otherwise, the tool is great.
