Frame Size for Animation in Technical Display Mode

Hi, anyone knows how to set up and change the frame size to export an animation in the technical display mode? So far I can just use the viewport size because it is somehow automatically linked to the frame size of the animation. unfortunately this size is too small for a HD video. thanks for your help!

Hi VVV,

Drag a viewport name tab to make a new floating viewport. Then in the Object Properties panel, change the width and height to 1280x720. Also rename the floating viewport so you can reference it in the last step where you pick your capture method and active view for the animation.

Thats awesome! Thank you so much:)

Hei.

I am not able to change these values… they appear to be locked even tough “locked” is not selected, when I make my window smaller the values change.

Do you know what might cause this?

Best regards,
Brenda

Hei Brenda -

The Locked checkbox in the Properties panel only prevents rotation, zooming, and panning of a viewport; it doesn’t lock the size.

When you select the Width and Height fields in that panel, you should be able to enter new values and the viewport will resize to those values.

If that is not what you are seeing, please start by running the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result here.

Thanks for that SystemInfo!
When a viewport is maximized, you are not able to change the size of it.
Is that what you are running into?
You can’t record animations that are larger than the screen. Have you tried using a floating viewport to maximize your size?

No I have not tried that before. How does it work?

Hei Brenda -

You can either use the ToggleFloatingViewport or the NewFloatingViewport command. The first one makes the current viewport floating, the second creates a new viewport. You can make that floating viewport as big as your screen.
