For about one month I could not use the Flash Player in Rhino help file. The Flash Player is used to display small videos and topics listed in “What do you want to do?” list. When I try to run the video, I get the following error:
After the error Windows 10 attempts to upgrade the Adobe Flash Player. The upgrade always fails.
This is a known bug and will not be fixed for Rhino 5. See this thread. The relevant portion and solution is quoted below.
In the online version of the help, the Flash videos have been replaced with mp4. I don’t think I can do anything to fix the .chm file at this point. If this becomes a huge issue for people who do not have online access, we will have to do something to fix this, but for now, as stated before, if you delete the .chm from your computer (or rename it), Rhino will automatically call the online version instead of the .chm. Keep me advised of how widespread this problem is.
This workaround does not work for me. After renaming RhinoHelp.chm file I cannot use the Rhino help file - Rhino says that the help file does not exist.
I understand that Rhino V5 still needs Flush–I mean Flash, but when people started making entire websites using a proprietary plugin, going against the grain of everything that the W3C set out to do, it made me want to wretch.
[Maam, I realize that your need to cover the earthen pit with heavy capstones of slate, but couldn’t you at least put some air holes in for them to breathe.
This worked for me! Thank you. I can now see the videos automatically. I renamed it RhinoHelp.old and the videos play without having to hit the F1 key.
