I would like to be able to array a bit more intuitively.
The most simple way I can think of would be to use the copy function of the gumball, the click an axis, then get 2 input fields. One for amount that is normally set to 1 and only selected with tab and one for distance moved. Then keep all the items of the array selected and gumball at the last item and be able to extend the array into another axis, same with the polar array, but then with the rotate part of the gumball
I am not against the current array options, but do get frustrated with it from time to time because I need to know which axis is the one I am doing the array in. I think I need to overdo it 30% of the time. I know I am not the only one.
the _array command refers to the current c-plane und you can see a small triade in the lower left corner of each viewport.
I think the gumball already is overloaded with functionality and newbies already have a hard time to learn it. I am against adding more options and functionality.
there is a similar topic here:
and you may want to change the title of your post: “Feature” is mostly used by mcneel to anonnce a new features for example the new patch implementation. “Wish” most post s with new ideas for functionality use “wish” as a first keyword.
Maybe the array-command can become additional dynamic drawn feedback - some direction indicators similar to the _dir command ?
