Exporting 3D voronoi fragments as group of individual objects

Hi all -

Been working on 3D voronoi in Grasshopper, etc.

Have baked my fractured pieces in Grasshopper…

I am now trying to export the group of fragments as OBJ or similar.

WHat I want at the other end is a set if individual meshes (the fragments) that I can then apply physics to.

However, every time I export (have tried a selection of polygon meshes->OBJ; polygon meshes to FBX; and polysurfaces->FBX), the individual fragments are not selectable.

What am I missing/failing to do in my workflow?

Thanks!

Hello- try these settings:

Does that help?

-Pascal

Thanks Pascal -
tried this, but same result.
Hmm…

Hello- can you test this one in your process? There should be six independent meshes - in Rhino it does open that way, it may be that in your target application there are import settings to pay attention to.
separatemeshes.obj (101.6 KB)

@Hedders can you post a small example of what you are trying to export?

-Pascal

polysurfaces_newrenamed.obj (2.7 MB)
Here you go…image of source Voronoi pieces once baked in Rhino.
Next to it is image of OBJ imported into Unity.
Note that when i do…there are no sub-meshes.
I attached the Obj I tried, using your suggested tweak.

Thx,
Hedders

Hi Hedders -

When I import that file into Rhino, it looks like this:

You’ll have to look at settings “at the other end” to have that come in as separately selectable objects.
