Can someone with the latest Rhino 9 WIP please check whether the Export Model Block Definition component works? I’m having trouble exporting with a definition that worked two weeks ago.
Yes, I am also seeing some problems.
But to make sure we have this covered:
- Can you give me an example?
- file type?
- Are you selecting existing blocks, etc….
I will start putting together a YT issue to track it.
Thanks @scottd
Here’s a simple example:
I tried *.obj, *.stl, *.step, *.stp and *.ply. which is not supported.

Thanks, we will take a look.
Without getting fancy, I tried *.3DM and see problems.
When will this be fixed?
It has been fixed
I am seeing the same behavior today, this time in Rhino 8, in a definition that was working just fine last week. It’s not letting me save a file using the Export Model Block Definition. I am using Rhino 8 SR24 (8.24.25281.15001, 2025-10-08).
exportTest.gh (10.5 KB)
Simple example attached. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Does the folder exist?
And maybe you need to update.
It works here in 8.25.25294

The folder does exist (I tried a few different filepaths just to make sure), but updating fixed it!
I’m not sure if it was the process of updating repaired something, or if there’s a fix in the latest version, but either way it’s working for me in 8.25.25294. Thanks!
As far as I understand, there was a fix in the latest update.
