Export alias tuneup needed

The “export Aliases” command could use a little love…

The only option is to a txt file, but its little better than nothing, since the resulting text file is ordered in some seemingly random fashion.

So, at very least, the exported file should be ordered (alphabetically) the same way the list of aliases appears within the internal list.

Further, although it looks like you can import a text file into the alias’s, I have never tried it, since its not clear if it will overwrite the existing list, or append to it?

All of which needs to be cleared up.

Theatrical lighting consoles all have an off-line editor of some sort, where you can examine and edit the show file away from the desk, and then load it back in.
This allows one to work on finer points of the show on a laptop on a flight, in a hotel room etc, and its an invaluable tool.

So, in this analogy, rhino would be the lighting desk, where the aliases are initially created, tested with the macro editor and so on, and the export command would allow these same aliases / macros to be further tuned up, edited, printed and archived or created from scratch in a generic text editor (on a phone for example) in another environment, and then be loaded back in.

Import this txt file in tools>options>aliases>import aliases

it will ask to replace all or let you choose 1 by 1
