Exploring Beaver Plugin for Advanced Timber Structure Optimization

Dear team,

I am currently working on my thesis focused on optimizing timber structures. As part of my research, I am exploring tools for detailed structural analysis. While I have been looking into software such as ANSYS and CalculiX, I recently came across Beaver and was intrigued by its potential applications in my work. Congratulations on creating such an innovative plugin!

I am particularly interested in understanding whether Beaver can support the following functionalities:

  1. Modifying the grain orientation within timber elements to analyze anisotropic behavior.
  2. Visualizing and analyzing detailed joint connections, such as those between two lamellas in a glulam beam.
  3. Extracting detailed data and generating visualizations that reflect these properties and interactions.

None of these functionalities are available in Beaver, nor they are in our roadmap.
If you’re interested in developing it further within our code there might be a few available options.
