Ok, I have an interesting problem. I have contour lines and elevation data points from Civil 3D. I have taken these into rhino/grasshopper. In rhino, I have drawn/repaired some of the nasty bits of the contour lines, and have raised them to their correct elevation (image 01 - this is the most accurate depiction of the site currently). There is an existing building that’s nestle into the what-would-be slope of the river bank.
The issue: I cannot seem to get patch or deluany mesh to do what i really need it to do despite having the contours and point data. (Image 02 and image 03).
Ideally i guess i would just loft the contour lines but that’s a whole mess too. I know i can basically extrude each closed polyline and do a stepped site, and that may be my only option, but i was hoping to get a real looking topography from this.
Anyways, I am looking for advice or solutions, especially from those who have designed on sloped sites. What is the common practice here? is what I am doing conventional? waste of time?
