I am running Rhino 8, just connected an older Epilog mini 18x12 laser.
The laser cuts perfect with an older pc running CorelDraw.
When I try to cut it only cuts anything placed 12" max from the left side.
I tried cutting using Adobe Illustrator and got the same results.
I set the piece size to the same size as the bed.
The laser cuts perfectly the circle on the top left but not the one on the right.
Any thoughts?
Thank you
Hi - can you please describe with more details in what way the imperfectly cut circle differs? Does the laser effect seem weaker?
I’ve run into possibly similar issues that have to do with physical variations in the bed alignment.
Which bed type does your laser have? Grid, solid? Guessing that this could be a consequence of a skewed bed and/or out-of-calibration lead screw adjustments on the four corners. If the working area, (or the workpiece) is not totally planar, the focus settings will only be correct for one side/corner.
The laser cuts the top left circle with no issues. The top right circle is not cut. The laser just does not cut past the 12" mark Something in the stting which I cant figure out.
Aha - in that case I’d look at the Paper size setting. For some reason the driver may be considering the graphic to be “out of the printable area” give the paper format shown here :
… possibly a portrait/landscape 12x18 vs. 18x12 confusion.
I run Illustrator into the Epilog Job Manager software (via Illustrators print dialog - it sends the output to the Job Manager as a virtual printer) - in that workflow there is an option to specify the media size. If the media size chosen is smaller than the print job size then I have seen a similar effect where those lines are ignored.
