Editing closed extrusions

I try to use lightweight extrusions when possible to keep down file size but I am just now noticing that I can’t edit them the way I can solids. No MoveFace. No duplicate face border. Is this just how things work or do I possible have some corrupted objects.

I know that I can convert it to a solid but is there a way to convert a solid back into a closed extrusion?

I am working with a bunch of objects and I’m trying to keep the file size down.

Check this post by @pascal to find a script that will convert a polysrf back to an extrusion (if possible).

Also, Jeff, if you make extrusions from curves with History enabled, you can edit he curve to change the extrusion profile. Extrusions have their own control points as well so you can change the length or orientation. That said, MoveFace, DupFaceBorder and others do work on extrusions - some, like MoveFace will convert the thing to a surface or polysurface in the process - maybe that is what you meant.

I ended up saving and closing Rhino. When I opened it back up I was able to edit all of my closed extrusions so I guess things just got a bit glitchy.

Pascal - I haven’t explored using History yet. I will look into it.

Thanks for the help guys
