I created a text object as a group and want to edit the text. I thought double clicking would do it , but not happening, and I do not see a way to change it in the object properties tab. Please help or redirect - thanks.

You exploded the text. Once it is exploded you cannot edit it any more. So just insert some new text objects using the Text command and don’t explode it. Then, when you select it, you get a panel on the right to edit the text.
I did not explode it. To convince myself that this is true, I just put in a new text object tried to double click and nothing happens. Never exploded anything…
Also I am not getting the “A” icon in my object properties tab, as you have. I am getting a piping icon.
Are you placing a TextObject (curves, surfaces or solids) or Text?
