That’s no easy task for a beginner, but go for it and jump in the deep end!
My best piece of advice would be to go for Sub-d modeling, as it’s well suited for something this organic. In order to get started, no better place than the resident Sub-D-teacher/design-oracle @theoutside (well, his real name is Kyle) and his hand tutorial - look here, give it a shot - and if you get stuck, feel free to post what you’ve got, and I’m sure somebody will try to help you out
Also, if you look at Rhino’s Youtube channel, there are a quite a few more Sub-D related videos - check them out as well!
