Doctor Robotnik's Egg Mobile

My small effort to Make WIP Great Again (doh!)…

Earlier in the year, I started playing the original Sonic the Hedgehog. I noticed that there are a few 3D models and some sketches out there. But I wondered if it were worth making a more “fully featured” object based on the original.

I chose to follow only the 8/16-bit rendition of the Egg Mobile, as I think it permitted more scope for the imagination.

Renders in bella, as normal.

First of the ship, where I tried to make sure the features at least made sense. Some scaling occurred to reduce the absurdity of the lack of resolution in the Sega games/TVs.

The engines allowed a good amount of freedom to create, without going overboard.

At the moment, I am working on the seat. Again, I am trying to follow the colour scheme as well as I can do. However there are only a few pixels to go from in many instances. I think the seat should be abnormally wide in the bolsters, to suit the rather rotund character.

I shall try and show more as I go along. One of the benefits of this is that it is reasonably quick to make, as much of the model is highly prismatic, and lends itself to push-pull, inset, and blocky trimming. Really it is the creative element that is harder to manage without ruining the idea.

Looks amazing! :star_struck: Can we have a look at the Rhino model as well?

Thank you very much, and sure! There’s not much to see…

What a banger! Following. :alien_monster:

I always imagined that the interior would have a leather dashboard, for some reason. It is in installation. This version is sort of taken from Sonic Unleashed, and modified accordingly.

Great stuff, always good fun seeing abstract sprites brought to life like this. Good work on the engines in particular, looks excellent
