Divide closed spline, parametric surface

Hey,
I would like to create surface by any curve, with one (ore more) control points which will be able to move in x and z direction. I was thinking about divide this spline into e.g. 5 parts, then divide this lines and create surface with sweep and this sections. But it’s not work. Is there diffrent way to create surface based on this shape, only divided into sections with mobile center points.

I’ll add one more thing. I have to divide surface later on diamond panels with paneling tools (or lunchbox)

I’m not at an advanced stage so please be understanding. I will be greatful for any ideas

why do you want to move what in x and z

I thought to divide this eplipse shape like this


Now i want to create surface based on main elipse shape, and with ‘sections’ made from this lines.
Then i want to move each of this middle point (one or more it depends on dividing lines), along z and x axis, creating arched curves. It should seems like thismaintaining the original shape which is coloured yellow

And this middle points which i want to move are because i want to operate this arche, to achive shape what i want. Finally it shoul be divided in regular rhomboids (diamonds). And it should be divide on lenght, based on maximum , or minimum distance. I belive there existe this dividing in this GH. Target effect is below



As you can see on the third photo rhomboids seems to be very equal. I was wondering about one more thing, is this amphiteatre surface divide on 2 main surface?
Look at the mounting of this rhomboids

yellow rhomboids are mounted in corner, but red in edges.

And my question to be able to move middle points is because this shape it looks like
Green lines are in my opinon move by centre point, but red lines seems to be the straight arche.

I know, this issiue is kind problematic. I spoke with main architect and he told me, that he has divide surface by paneling tool, because it has many parametric functions. In my opinion pufferfush or lunchbox is better, but maybe i am wrong. Anyways i hope i explained this and now it is understandingable as simple as can. In any more questions just tell me. I belive you know any way to plot such a surface. You shold seen that in previous post, but there were not good answear to create this shape

What ellipse shape? I don’t see an ellipse in your GH file?

That’s debatable. Depends on skill levels in Rhino vs. GH. It certainly can be created in GH.

P.S. Haven’t I seen images of this structure in another thread recently?

Hi.

I worked a bit on your file. I think by using “Contour” component you can achieve what you want.

In my file, I have added one single distance for contouring the surface, however, you can give a list of distances to have more control on the outcome.

Additionally, I have added a “Graph mapper” to have the Curve in the Z direction customized.
If there is something else needed, I would be pleased to help.

I wrote this white group as a hasty demo of a GH approach, though it obviously needs work to resemble your goal. Then I looked earlier in your code to find the ellipses… :man_facepalming:

Really unbelievable that you are grabbing points from a pair of ellipses :bangbang: :man_facepalming: :frowning:

Firstly, Thank you very much for spending your time about this issue. This division makes sense and it is what i mean.

First question is how to close this surface to base shape? maybe you have any clever idea? I think the solution may be to add move in X direction and bring first point to 0 level in Z. Then move in X and done. Same in ended point. What do you think?

And i think about to make possibility to move border points in Z direction to slope this construction a little. I hope that i will do that base on your cocnept.

Second question is, how do you know when click this buttons i mean: flatten, simplify etc. For you this is a trivial question obviously :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I am rookie in GH and don’t know when to use it, but maybe it would work before with my diffrent ideas, but don’t know how it works. I know it is about numeric list and know what they do in simple examples, but can you explain e.g. why you simplify merging data or flatten curve? what will do when it won’t be clicked?

And last question, is there any possibilities to divide this surface by maxium or minimum distance? I want to divide this surface like now that is, countours with distance 5. and i want to do this with diamond panels e.g. max distance U 5m, V 1 m. There is drawing what i mean, sorry it was quickly made in paint.

i will try to do something with your file and I’ll figure it out some more. If not, will I be able to ask you if you have nothng against that?
