Display mode arctic - certain objects disappear when rotating view

When in a custom arctic mode … objects disappear below the horizon (grid + section markers + objects that have other display modes overridden).

See enclosed gif-animation.

I have “centerlines” at the z=0 level. These are set manually to display always as “wireframe mode”. They are not visible in certain orientations.

Something is not working right here.

Arctic Mode - objects disappear

If you have the groundplane set to 0.0 always then objects below that won’t show when looked at from above the ground plane. But noce you are below the groundplane you will see objects that are there. That is how it is supposed to work.

So what setting should I use if everything should be visible ?

Ah, I get it now, you are expecting to see linework as well. That won’t work. The automatic groundplane looks only at objects that generate render meshes. From our docs on groundplane:

Automatic

Turns on auto-elevation that moves Ground Plane to the lowest point of the objects in the model. New objects added to the scene may change Ground Plane elevation. Auto-elevation ignores non-meshable* object types.

*Non-meshable object types do not generate render meshes. For example, curves, dimensions, texture mapping widgets, etc.

Since you have automatic elevation checked the groundplane will be at the lowest point of all objects that generate these meshes.

You should switch off the automatic altitude and move your geometry to the 0-plane.
