Default size of Text command control is so small that its text window is invisible (as shown in the following screenshot on the left size)
Inexperienced Rhino user has no clue that the text window exists, but is hidden.

The minimum size of the window shouldn’t allow the text edit control to be hidden.
Do you mind trying the following steps?
- run the text command
- drag to bottom edge of the dialog to make the dialog at least twice as tall
- close and restart Rhino
- run the text command, the dialog should be as tall as you left it.
- drag the bottom edge up to make the dialog height as small as possible.
After this can you still make the dialog small enough to hide the text edit control?
