Custom Mapping

Hello,

Need help with custom mapping. I that if I use the unroll command rhino will provide me with flattened surfaces that match the surfaces of the part. However, when I use the custom mapping tool Rhino just flatten the surfaces into random sizes forcing me or others to go in and manually resize the sizes for proper mapping. Is this tool being redone in R6 or is there a better way to use the custom map tool to get the correct sizes of the surfaces as they are on the 3d model.

Hi cmichaels - are you asking about the UV editor? Have you used Unwrap?

-Pascal

Yes, I am referring to the UV editor and I have used the unwrap tool with some better results. But, the unwrap tool is inconsistent. I was wondering if the mapping was going to be tweaked in R6

Hi cmichaels - I think there are tuneups but no major changes in V6 - what is not working for you in Unwrap?

-Pascal

Its inconsistent - One time I will Unwrap it and it will work great and then I’ll do it again same model copied and pasted into another scene and get a differnt result.

Hi cmichaels- if you run into this, please send us an example.

-Pascal

This is what Rhino does showing how rhino lays it out and how it is corrected. The smash command lays it out perfectly sized but we cant use the to map. Mapping randomly lays out the surfaces and the user has to find the surface and resize it - one - at - a - time.

Hoping that this is a WIP in R6
