Creating pringle made from bamboo?

I’m working on a project using Grasshopper and I’ve ended up with two different definitions.

In the first one, I kind of made a mess—I created a hyperbolic paraboloid and then cut an ellipse through it to get a Pringle-like shape. It works visually, but I can’t really control it the way I’d like to.

In the second definition, its a hyperbolic Pringle surface that behaves better, but it’s not constructed from straight bamboo culms.

What I’m really trying to do is generate a surface that can be built with straight bamboo culms—so both sets of curves (in each direction) would be straight lines. I also want to be able to control the curvature and deformation more intuitively.

Any tips or ideas on how to structure the definition better? Or ways to keep both directions straight while still getting that Pringle-like twist?

Thanks so much in advance! (attaching both definitions in one file)

I don’t see what Rectangle Grid is doing, or why you used it instead of standard GH?

I can send the code without the plugin, but its still a mess. If yoy have any tips so i can start again from 0 i would appreciate it!

Hello I don’t know if it helps but pringle has already been done on this forum

And for the bamboo thing I don’t really see the problem. Are they flat so they can just bend on a direction ? Are they weaved ?

this is what i’m trying to create, yoy see, the bamboos are all straight, no need to curve to form a pringle
