Crash video recorded

Finally I was able to catch the bug.
The crash is reproducible on my
system exactly how I video recorded following the explained steps.

Quick question…
Why are you using the old AMD gpu for Rhino and not one of the vastly superior NVIDIA gpus?

If you want to use the AMD, make sure in Options > View > OpenGL, the “GPU Tessellation” option is unchecked.

Hi @John_Brock,

i can repeat that with a Quadro 5000 and send a crash report. All i did was right clicking (and holding RMB down) to flyout the toolbar below the same button as shown in the video. After about a dozen times, Rhino 8 WIP crashed.

c.

Please send in a crash report with your email address and a brief description.
Then let us know so we can go look at it.

Thanks

Good question…
My 3d workflow starts from Rhino then it’s translated to 3ds Max.
The 1st gpu (the AMD) is used only for the display, it’s not touched by the Cuda resources.
Then I can use full 12GB of vram dedicated to Vray GPU kernel for all gpus.
This is valid also for Rhinoceros 7 or 8 using Cycles or other gpu based renderers.
If I used the Windows resources for the display and the directx/opengl framebuffer I would have only 5/6GB free (or less if the visualized 3d meshes are millions) for the Cuda kernel.

I used to run 4 1080ti’s and never noticed any benefit of any sort form NOT using them all for iray.
