CRASH - filletSrfToRail

filletSrfToRail was such a promising command in rhino 8. but it is close to useless and fails so often.

and finally it offers a repeatable crash.
(completely Rhino crash, all data is lost… be careful)

Fillet srf to rail - almost never works for me

Here’s an example of it not working. The steps are…well, just run the command _FilletSrfToRail and follow the prompts. The result is that the surface that the curve is on gets deformed, and the resulting fillet is not at all what it should be. Version 8 SR13 FilletSrfToRail fail.3dm (101.2 KB)

i came across this crash while wanting to offer a modelling solution for this question

looking forward to get some real fillet enhancements (@menno ?) in Rhino V9
(by the way my question about interpolating curves to get a variable fillet is about optimizing above script, i use instead of filletSrfToRail and instead of variableFilletSrf…)

No, the inward fillet is not found. That is now a RH-86204.

RH-86202 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 18 Release Candidate
