Convert max file to 3ds or obj

Hello I was given a 170.38 MB .max file but I only have rhino 6. Dose anyone know how I can open it?

You need to find someone with Max, or the 30-day trial works if you can get it. What I’ve read is that Max has so many plugins that people use that you can’t even be sure you can properly open someone else’s Max file with Max, it’s not really a good format to use for sharing data.
