I have to build a continuous up and down rotation device. The problem is that when I mirror the half spiral it is not a continuous curve. Some probably say I have to fillet the curves, I don’t even know how to make that. But I want is an up and down curve with determined profile. I need to make something circular, and something circular that will rotate "inside"it and something like a track in a roller coaster. English is not my first language. Sorry! Any help is very welcome.
I think this may work as you want it too. I made a simple circle then turned on Control Points (F10) and using the Gumball rotated the points on either side -/+ 15 deg along the perpendicular axis. As the circle is made on the XY plane i could just use the green rotation arc and set the angle for the points selected.
Filleting curves is a 2D operation so that won’t work on your 3D curves. You can use a Blend curve if you trim the curves back so that there is a gap to fill with the blend.
Another way to do this would be to draw a flat curve shaped like a sine wave and use ApplyCrv to map the curve to a cylinder cam.3dm (30.8 KB)
Hmm… This is using the Control points to create lines for ArcBlend Tangents. Don’t know if its what your looking for though. File of workflow including original attached also attached.
