There is a Displacement channel in the material settings. If I select Displacement there, nothing happens. Why is that? I only get results via the Displacment extra function. How do I make Displacment visible in the material channel? Or am I not understanding something here?
PBR displacement only works when the geometry the material is assigned to has a render mesh that is dense enough.
If you added a simple box you need to first convert it with _ToNURBS
. After that you can set a custom mesh to it in the object properties panel. After that you should be able to see the displacement effect.
Note that meshes are unwelded on the hard edges in Rhino. This will result in ‘tears’ and openings in the mesh, looking pretty bad.

Note that this displacement is different from displacement through the Physically Based material.
