Commands and any input is slow/lagging

I have been using rhino 6 on this laptop for a couple years and it worked great - could have multiple big files open and was fine.
Now ive ‘upgraded’ to rhino 7 and its so slow. typing any command has a second or two lag and putting in dimensions or values is the same. even just working 2D is super slow now. panning and moving around in 3D seems ok strangely.
MUST be a solution to this but can see it.
any help would be amazing, its driving me crazy.

I’m on a 2019 intel macbook pro and have been running rhino 7 for many months and just in the last week or so typed commands have become incredibly delayed just like you. If I select commands from menus they run quickly but any time I type something there is a 5+ second delay before rhino responds.
Anxiously awaiting any info that people drop in here!
