I extruded this from regular circles and line shapes like normal.
It’s happening to multiple (circular) solids in this rhino file. I tried exporting this part seperately to share on the forum, but isolated in it’s own Rhino file, the solid looks normal…
Unfortunatly I am not allowed to share the entire Rhino file.
(Also what is the name for this effect, English isnt my first language, I sure there is a word for it…)
I’ve attached the isolated model “ugly.3dm”. I also included a bigger part of the model. I deleted most sensitive information , so should be okay to share it like this.
I had already closed the model, I had to re-open it to reply in this topic, weird thing is, the part didnt look nearly as choppy now as it did before, still not great though.
I also included the SystemInfo. Although my coworker was complaining about the same issue.
In Simple controls, you should see a major difference between Jagged & Faster, and Smooth & Slower.
Knowing that it’s just “eye candy” now and not a problem with your file, you can tweak the settings according to your own needs.
I just think it is wierd, because I never had any issues like this before with my current settings, and the problem seems to be appearing and dissapearing. (When reopening the file and when exported as an isolated object the solid looked just fine)
I am a bit hesitant to mess with settings I don’t fully understand and have been working quite well for years for me.
Could it be the model is taxing my computer too much somehow which causes the rhino render engine to simplify some of the shapes? This explanation already sounds far fetched to me, because I’ve worked with far more complex models and never really encountered somehting like this
Hi Simon - our default templates are set to use Smooth and Slower. In the file you posted, I do not see anything that looks terrible so far - certainly not like your original image. But if I explicitly set Smooth and Slower, it looks pretty bad… I’ll invesigate.
