When i’m trying to change an object’s layer from the properties panel, it requieres to hold the mouse click now. Is this a new change or my mouse is broken? I tried this with my laptop pad and it works the same.
In the Properties panel I just need to click on the current layer name, move the cursor to highlight the desired layer and left click on the highlighted layer.
But this behaviour is not happening in my end. I have tested this in two computers and it’s not consistent with the other panels beside in which they do behave like you said.
Im having this issue too. Any chance you solved it?
Is anybody working on this issue?? Last update hasn’t.
No one from McNeel has responded so I doubt anyone is working on this.
@CallumSykes Perhaps someone from McNeel should join this thread.
Exactly which panels are not working as expected and which panels are working as expected? Does the Layers panel work as expected?
Run the Rhino command SystemInfo and post the results here.

Seconded, once you post this info @jnavarro1 (and ideally @Dwayne_Cullen) we can get the issue figured out or a bug fix in the pipeline, apologies that we missed this thread.
Here
In the properties panel, if i go to change the layer of the object selected, i have to click and hold to navigate this list of layers and then let go when I find the layer i want to assign. If I don’t do that, rhino just choose the layer in which my cursor is standing.

Here is system info. The problem doesn’t happen if I open a new file from rhinos new template files. It happens with every single other file though. Its not unusable, just slower and annoying.

HI Dwayne,
Please provide and example file and steps to repeat and we’ll take a look. Thanks
I can repeat this when I dock the layers panel above the properties panel.
– Dale
sample.3dm (2.2 MB)
if you click an object then go into properties to change the layer, you have to click and hold.
Usually you can click once and the menu stays open
Yeah, it’s a werd one to replicate, because i’ve just open a new file this problem won’t appear.
I’ve allways worked with this window tab down in different version, but just recently that this problem showed.
I’m having real problems with changing an objects layer using the properties panel, its definitely buggy, if you have sub layers its almost impossible
So, I’ve found that it happens when I have enough layers that the drop box that opens exceeds my window space. So if I remove layers it works again. Or if I put the tool in a spot that allows the dropbox room within the window.
It seems like its just when there’s no room for the dropbox - it becomes a click and hold situation. Maybe this is all by design and I’m an idiot…
Im now keeping properties panel on my upper right side instead of my lower right side.
Hi Dwayne -
Yes, that requirement was stated in the bug report…
It looks like this issue was fixed a few hours ago. This fix went into 8.x - which currently is 8.22.
This should become available as a public release on Tuesday next week if all goes well.

RH-88003 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 22 Release Candidate
