Can't change curve display color

I’m trying to change the display color of a line without changing the layer color. I highlighted the line, opened the Properties window, in “Display Color” I selected red. Still displays black (the layer color). I changed the print color to red, still displays black.

I’m using Rhino Version 5 SR12 64-bit with Windows 7 Professional.

Oh – I see. I opened the “Display Options” window for the viewport,
View > Display Modes > Wireframe > Objects > click the “+” > Curves > Curve Settings > Curve Color Usage > Use Object’s Color
