Cannot draw on surfcae

hello everyone,

very simple question
I cannot draw anything on surface, whenever Im trying to draw on perspective view port its not drawing on surface, please help…
and even im not able to get reference line while drawing smtng over surface

In Rhino, similar to many other cad applications you generally draw on a construction plane (the grid)

I’m not a modeling expert, others can chime in but you have a few options if you want to draw on the top surface of the extrusion you’re showing:

  • Move the construction plane. Using CPlane command and click one of the points on the top of the extrusion. (you need to turn on end OSnaps)
  • Toggle AutoAlignCPlane and ctrl+shift select the surface. This will temporarily move the CPlane to the surface and you can draw on it
  • If you want to draw free form curves you can also use Sketch command with OnSurface option
  • For a simple line like you’re showing you can just avoid manipulating CPlane altogether and use OSnaps
