Hey guys,
Is there any way to make this type of simple script execute faster in Rhino 8? I have a bunch of these assigned to buttons and would like it if they could execute faster.
Thanks!
Jeff

I just did a test, and Rhino 7 runs these almost instantaneously, while Rhino 8 takes a few seconds.
I’m hoping somebody jumps in with a tip for improvement.
Hi @Wheel_Bum,
Two things we’ll need from you.
SystemInfo
command and post the results.s
layer on is fast in V7 but slow in V8.Thanks,
– Dale
I can do that Dave. Thanks!
But I just tested this on another PC running V8 and things run fine on it. I wonder if it’s related to my other machine, a laptop. I will look more closely at that machine when I get to it. I’ll see if it’s the machine, or a set of files that are causing the issue.
Thanks again, Dave!
Hi Dale,
I can repeat the problem on my laptop. The .3dm file has sensitive information in it. Where can I upload it instead of attaching here?
Thanks!
Jeff
Dale,
I figured out the file upload and have have uploaded the file.
Thanks!
Dale,
I misunderstood your message and ran a windows systeminfo instead of a Rhino one. Here’s the Rhino info.

Hi @mht.jeff,
I received your file, thanks. I found that turning the S
layer on and off was not abnormally slow on my 3 year old laptop.
The Layers panel in Rhino 8 is new, and it is not as snappy (yet) as the panel in Rhino 7 for Windows. This has been discussed quite a bit out here.
I can see your using an older system:
The GeForce GTX 980M was a mobile graphics chip by NVIDIA, launched on October 7th, 2014.
For what it’s worth.
Thanks,
– Dale
Alright, thanks Dave!
Sounds like it might be time to upgrade my “Vintage” laptop lol
