March 20, 22, 23, 2017
9:30-13:00 and 14:30-18:00 (GMT+1)
This year ICD (Institute for Computational Design) will livestream the 3-day workshop C# Scripting and Plugin Development for Grasshopper organized by its Research Associate Long Nguyen.
C# provides high-performance interaction with Rhino/Grasshopper modeling via scripting and programming. This allows you to go beyond what is normally possible with the native features.
The workshop will cover the following topics:
- Basic C# programming, the .NET framework and concepts in objected-oriented programming
- Going beyond visual programming in Grasshopper with the C# component
- The RhinoCommon API, the library that allows you to interact with Rhino/Grasshopper programmatically
- How to write plug-ins for Grasshopper with Microsoft Visual Studio and the Grasshopper API
- Program a fast and interactive flocking simulation inside Rhino/Grasshopper
- A short introduction to computational complexity and spatial data structure
- Accessing C# code using Python
- And more…
Everyone is welcome to watch the workshop’s livestream. If you wish to follow and get your hands dirty, you need to download and install the following software tools:
- Rhinoceros 5 and Grasshopper
- Python for Grasshopper
- Kangaroo 2.2.1
- Visual Studio 2015 (Community edition or Professional editions)
- Grasshopper Assembly template for Visual Studio 2015
