Bugging: Rhino Settings UI Nightmare

go to Rhino Settings for instance General and then try to add more, the entire thing is just way too small, one can not resize it and has to scroll through this tiny window to add, delete or look for settings. the entire settings window is not resizeable. its a nightmare…

i have mentioned that and in a similar issue and i believe somebody told me that this might change at some point, but when how and where?

As a workaround for the Run… and Never… dialog boxes, click in them, Ctrl/Cmd+A, Ctrl/Cmd+C and paste into a text editor. Do your additions, edits in the text editor and then paste back into the dialog. Not ideal, but better than struggling.

well i rather struggle than to do all that hoop jumping… its still faster, but causes me hair loss :face_with_spiral_eyes:

isn’t highly exaggerated? I mean, this has been like this as long as I can remember, and you’ve been around for at least all the time it has been this way without complaining about it. It’s not that you need to change these often I suppose? That being said, I can log it if you find it really important.

i wrote

the entire settings are a nightmare, which i use rather often. to at least resize the entire window would already help. same as the Rhino Document Settings there it jumps from one predefined window size to another without any option to resize the window to see all the stuff needed in one go.

its details like these which sum up and make Rhino for Mac a real pain.

if that was not logged till now then i honestly dont have much hope that Rhino for Mac will ever be a as it should. these issues should have been fixed years ago, i have complained about it, and as far as i remember i am not the only one. so…

no, its actually already an understatement to be honest.

yes please…

This is not going to be specific enough to log it, and it doesn’t give me any clue as what you dislike or what change would make it better for you and everybody else. Is it graphically, is it the arrangement, are there settings missing or in the wrong spot?

Maybe we can address things one page at a time.

fwiw: Personally I find the documents settings on Mac more painful to use than the General, and closer to what you call a nightmare.

i agree 100% i wanted to write that but did not want to seem even more exaggerating…

the image i posted should explain a big portion of this specific incidence.

but generally

if that would work (sticky) for all settings including the document settings that would bring us back on a path i would say. more specific things can be handled then… but i am afraid adding too much information more than half gets lost… and i am going to call out @pascal for ignoring my beggings to log the rest of bugs in one topic many times. but he is not the only one… so i have the feeling people are way too fast to read through or i am nesting important issues too much into others.

anyway thanks @Gijs i must honestly say you are my only hope obi wan.

Dunno, the DocumentProperties/Options window in Windows Rhino is resizable.

For DocProperties:

The Hatch preview window itself is not resizable but the hatch pattern samples are huge - I guess to show real size? Otherwise they could be made a lot smaller.

The Linetypes preview window is actually resizable, but if you pull it down further, the settings then need a scroll bar. The previews are also very large.

The Location page list of countries would need a scrollbar in any case.

Other than that I personally don’t see any nightmares in Document Properties.

here it gets a scrollbar when resizing the linetypes preview.

It looks it has that but at a certain width it gets truncated.

I think the language I used was a bit of unclear Englishism, I did not mean that they are currently absent - they are indeed there - but rather I meant that a scrollbar is required in any case for both of these given the length of the items and the space available.

ah, I see
