there are two overlapping polylines with more segments, i want to pick one sub segment with ctrl shift click but i dont get that little window to select from more options (since there are more overlapping lines).

Hello - if you have mouse-over highligthing of sub-objects turned on
it may get in the way of this menu.

it was true, making it false solved my issue. what is supposed to be default? in v7 i didnot set anything…
There is a basic conflict with this setting, as you just saw - it needs to be more easily accessible to toggle on the fly, in my opinion.
