Bluebeam 3D PDFs

Is there a way to use Bluebeam to create 3D PDFs from Rhino files? We used Simlab’s 3D exporter many years ago, but our current IT policy is pushing back against updating our license because it is not approved software. One of our team tried opening a 3dm file from Bluebeam, but it didn’t appear to support it.

PDF printer utilities will not generate a 3D pdf.

If you have SolidWorks in your organization, I know it can save a 3D pdf.
Some of the other mechanical CAD apps might be able to as well, so if your company is using a different one, you could check out the export options.

Hi Robert -

From their support page:

3D PDF files can be created from Universal 3D (U3D), Industry Foundation Classes ( IFC text) files, and SolidWorks part and assembly (.sldprt and .sldasm) files.

Rhino doesn’t natively export any of those formats.

Hi @rhorsefield
If you have access to Adobe Photoshop you can export U3D from there (and import OBJ from Rhino). Materials are a PITA in Photoshop, but it’s possible.

I export as 3d dwg then open with Navis Works, then export it as a 3D Bluebeam pdf.
