Hi, can anyone help me? I’m currently modelling quite a simple 5 sided shape, I’m using soft crease on the corners, for some reason the outline I’m given is very smooth, but the object I can see is ‘softly’ faceted?
no effect sadly as that’s what google came up with
when I convert to NURBS its fine, but when trying to work with non CAD people, all they see is a jagged mess when you’re trying to make changes to the design
Are you exporting the SubD as mesh?
only to NURBS
How does your ToNURBS output look like?
Could you share this 3dm file? BTW, could you run the SystemInfo in the command line, copy and past the popup contents here? Thanks.
It’s more apparent with flat shading.

This is due to the render mesh of the SubD. Use the SubDivide command to increase the density of faces and you’ll get a smoother render mesh. There’s no way outside of the render mesh controls for Raytraced display and the Render command to increase the density of polygons in the render mesh for a SubD in shaded display modes. Note, a low face count like this will never look as smooth as it would with a few more subdivisions even if capturing rendered images. If you are sending 2D images of the SubD for review you can try maxing out the SubD mesh slider for the render meshes and use the Raytraced display mode or the Render command. For any other shaded mode, you’ll need to SubDivide.
What Brian said is correct, at present. We are looking at different options to increase SubD display and analysis density for v9:
