Assigning Keystrokes to Commands in Panels

I’d like to assign a key to the Show Object Layers command in the pull-down menu in the Layers Panel. I went to Tools→Options→Keyboard and added a keystroke. I entered “Show Object Layers” in its Command Macro column. It didn’t work.

How do I do this? Is there some sort of punctuation I need to add?

The command is HighlightObjectLayers.

Thanks Dale! Interesting that it’s different from the command as shown in the Layer Panel’s menu.

Where can I find a list of the official command names, the ones I can use in keystroke bindings?

It’s the one that shows up in the command line when you select it from the menu. At least in Windows. I assume it’s the same for Mac. You can also “explore” or “test” by typing what you think it should be in the command line to see what shows up.
