Adding thickness to beams

Hi,

I am trying to add thickness to various beams so they extrude 100 in each of their respective direction to give a thickness of 200:

This is the result i am getting using the extrude with amplitude. I am close but cant seem to figure out the neatest way to do it:

any ideas?
