2d scale/scale by plane with Gumball?

I feel like a noob asking this but… is it possible to do a xy/xz/yz scale using the gumball?
The planar movement with the axis combination is quite useful and I was a little puzzled that I couldn’t find it. Is it really not possible?

Yes, if you hold shift while clicking on the 2D Gumball plane you get 2D scale.
I took me years to find this one as well…
