Polysurface changing display color on it's own

I’ve recently encountered a somewhat buggy issue with Rhino 5; occasionally objects seem to change display/render color on their own. To explain the pictures below, I had an object that was all white before trimming a portion off it. In picture 1, you can see its display mode became a dark grey. picture 2 shows extracting a single surface causes the extracted surface to jump back to its native color.

Any guesses as to what could be causing this?

Hi Brad- does the Check command report the object is still OK?

Pascal, the SelectBadObjects command reported no bad objects, and Check reported that it was a valid object.

In rendered view, the top image is with it as a valid polysrf. The lower is exploded into valid surfaces.

Can you please post the model, or send it to me in a private message if it is not OK here? Please send it in the ‘ok’ state, if possible, with instructions on how to make it misbehave - thanks.

I’m afraid the file cannot be reduced small enough to upload here (it’s about 9mb at its smallest). Exploding and copying into a new file and then joining seemed to solve the problem.

Hi Brad- if you can, please upload the file here -

to my attention - I’d like to figure out what is going on…

thanks,

Don’t know what it is but it’s beautiful
